News (and Mini Guide)
The Christmas event of 2014 is almost over. Similarly to last year, one of the tasks to accomplish is to build your fort and upgrade it. Each fort upgrade adds a nifty boost to power, luck, attraction rate and small things like these that give you a little more of an edge in catching the mice here. If you are a high rank mousehunt player then you probably won't notice the difference.
First, you must collect a new unique kind of cheese for this area called Arctic Asaigo. All cheese attract mice that drop this cheese but cheese from previous Christmas events such as Festive Feta, Seasoned Gouda, Snowball Bocconcini or Gingerbread Cheese will attract mice that drop more Arctic Asaigo.
Arctic Asaigo is used to progress through the 3 waves that they have released one by one. Each mouse you catch with Arctic Asaigo progresses you along the wave. To start each wave, you must use the new cheese to attract mice that drop Tower Slabs. The first wave requires 20 tower slabs, the second 25 and the third 30. Once the tower slabs have been collect you can start the wave. In the first wave, 40 mice need to be caught with Arctic Asaigo, 50 in the second and 60 in the third.
At the end of each wave, you will encounter a boss mouse. The first boss is the Ice Fist mouse, the second is the Tundra Huntress mouse and the third (the new one) is the Borean Commander. Once you have finished a wave, before the next wave is released you enter a bonus zone where you repeat a single wave over and over that is 20 mice long. At the end is the Stuck Snowball mouse. Each time he is caught, the snowball he is stuck in gets larger and larger and as a result drops more loot.
Throughout the event, you will be collecting Tower Bricks which are used to build the fort upgrades. Use them whenever you can as a better trap means faster progression. Also, you will be collecting throwable snowballs through mice and the daily rewards for being active. These items are used in the Snowball Showdown minigame which functionally is very similar to the game battleship. For each ship sunk, or in this case, each Christmas related thing uncovered? you get small rewards such as more Arctic Asaigo, Ice coins, etc.
Lastly, you will have a lot of Ice coins saved up by this point. They are ultimately used to purchase the new limited Edition trap and base, the Festive Gauntlet Crusher and the Hothouse Base. Spares can be used to purchase other items from the general store that can help your progress outside of the event. Don't forget to collect the Advent Chocolate on the twelve days of Christmas calender. This is used to purchase the new skins available from the trapsmith.
